The method of paraspinal therapy and trigerpoint therapy in the Trapezius area

you must have experienced pain in the back of the shoulders and under the shoulder area. People who complain pain in the back of the shoulder usually have triggerpoints in the form of a question mark in the upward or forward range of motion of the hand, which is referred from the back of the neck to the shoulder girdle and between the two shoulder blades. These pain can be referred to other places such as ladder muscles or scalenes and some times under the jaw.

The Trapezius muscle can be divided in to three areas: upper ( up to the shoulder girdle) , middle( up to the spine) , and lower ( up to the shoulder blade). Trigger points can be eisily found with the help of the massager. You will find these triggerpoints mainly on the shoulder muscle, under the shoulder girdle, points near the spine and under the shoulder blades.

The Patient complains of pain sometimes in the temporomandibular joint. ( TMJ) or pain in the temporal region and may even suffer from upward bending of the shoulders, which are all symptoms of a Cramp in the Trapezius muscle. Sometimes, even long -term stress can cause cramping in the scalene area and cause referred pain  to the shoulder area and the Trapezius muscle.

Treatment steps:

1paraspinal therapy:

For this purpose, since the nerves related to these points pass by the first four vertebrae of the spine, paraspinal therapy is performed by creating alternating  static pressures (petrisage and Friction  movements) next to the first four vertebrae above the neck c1-c4 to give [ note: you should not apply pressure on the neck vertebrae. The pressure should be applied on the nerve next to the vertebrae] The pressure should be applied slowly and continuously for about 30 to 60 seconds.

2pressure on triggerpoints:

You press on the trigger points with your thumb for 30 to 60 seconds. Makeup to five compressions with a short pause between each compression. While creating pressure, if you feel pain in your thumb, you can also use massage tools such as guasha.

3stretch the muscle:

For this purpose, ask the massage recipient to sit down. Then while you are behind him, place the soles of your feet on the shoulders and take the massage recipient,s  hand frome the wrist area in your hands. . Then, By straightening the knees, pull the hands back slowly. You can apply pressure on the triggerpoints using the big toes of both feet while performing this movement. Repeat the movement five times in total.

In the last step, ask the patient to lie on his stomach and guide his hands above his head on the massage bed. In this case, the Trapezius muscle is placed in the open massage position. Massage the muscle by doing ironing and forearm movements. Then with kneading movements, work on the connective tissues  so that the referred pains from this area will also be removed.
